Red Acre Cabbage seeds is a visually stunning cabbage variety to see growing in your vegetable garden. This early cabbage has a beautiful bright reddish-purple colour. These red cabbage heads are crisp, tender and sweet with great flavour which grow to a size of about 7" in diameter. The average weight of this red cabbage variety is around 3-4 pounds. It's excellent for making coleslaw and in salads as well as other great dishes in the kitchen. Furthermore this variety of cabbage has great resistance to splitting and stores exceptionally well for an early cabbage. Ready to harvest in about 75 days.

Red Acre Cabbage Seeds - Growing Cabbage From Seeds

SOWING:

Start cabbage seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before your last frost. Plant seeds 1/4" deep in individual pots or seed trays. The first crop of cabbage should be mature before the heat of summer so plant the seedlings about 4 weeks before the last expected frost. Plant seedlings 12"-18" apart with a spacing of 36" between rows while also burying the stems half way up. For a fall crop direct sow or transplant seedlings in midsummer.

If hard frosts are expected cover young seedlings. Lastly apply mulch to regulate soil temperature, conserve moisture and control weeds.

HARVESTING:

Harvest cabbage when feels firm and reaches a good size. Smaller cabbages tend to be more tender, while large cabbage heads from fall store very well over the winter.
